In the past, members of the royal family of Portugal used to come down to Caldes de Monchique, a place near Terra do Milho, to take a bath for their health. The water from the thermal springs there is known to be good for respiratory problems and muscle and skeletal disorders. It is also an incredible moisturizer for the skin. Although the springs in our stream are not thermal, an old study tells us that the clear water on the mountains of Monchique has more or less the same composition.
