There are many historical books about the difficulty people had establishing self sustaining homes in the rainforest climate. One I especially enjoyed was Cougar Annie’s Garden http://powellriverbooks.blogspot.com/2015/05/cougar-annies-garden-by-margaret.html because she was a tough, resourceful woman. It was a biography about her life and how she developed a mail order nursery business to keep living on her land. – Margy
